Nelson BC, known as the "The Queen City" for its impressive number of restored heritage buildings, offers the combination of youthful entrepreneurial spirit with small-town charm. While known for a plethora of outstanding outdoor activities, check out some in-town events that will also make your trip a memorable one.

Craft Brews of the Columbia Basin Film Competition

Craft Brews of the Columbia Basin Film Competition returns for a second year! New and emerging filmmakers are challenged to create a 3-minute compelling and inventive commercial or short film, promoting one of the participating Columbia Basin craft breweries. The aim is to support and encourage up-and-coming artists by awarding numerous prizes for their submissions.

The film premiere is on October 10 at the Civic Theatre at the CBCB gala screening. The films continue to show at theatres in the communities of participating breweries for October, BC Craft Beer Month. Attend the film premiere and get your ticket today!

Celebrate the Touchstone of the Community

The Touchstones Nelson Museum of Art and History has been the pillar of the Nelson community for several years. In fact, on October 26, join staff, volunteers, and community members in celebrating the museum's 13th birthday since moving to 502 Vernon Street. The celebration includes free admission all day, as well as cake, tea, and coffee at noon and tours offer by Ron Welwood and Interim ED Anna Purcell.

The Touchstones museum is a must-visit attraction in Nelson, thanks to its showcase of amazing artworks and rotating exhibits. A large part of its appeal is the building that houses the museum, which is a beautiful heritage building designed by Francis Rattenbury, the Victoria parliament building designers. Mark your calendar and be sure to stop by Touchstones on your trip to Nelson!
